Why Wireless is Secure

Steel City Broadband would like to take this opportunity to display the multiple reasons that our fixed wireless solution for Internet access is, not only very fast, but very secure.  There are seven layers of security on the wireless network to keep unwanted attempts at accessing the network, off of the network.  Please review the following steps:

  1. Spread spectrum modulation of air-link interface
  2. MAC authentication of all subscriber units (any device attempting to access our network without MAC is sent a code that disables the devise which only the manufacturer can reset)
  3. Proprietary data scrambling of data packets (256 byte encryption)
  4. Adaptive polling protocol
  5. Application/user authentication
  6. Fully compatible with VPN/IPsec
  7. Fully compatible with SSL/Secure Socket Layer Transactions

This technology does not employ the 802.11b protocol, meaning that there are no off-the-shelf devices made for “sniffing” out wireless networks that can be effective on this network.  This proprietary protocol is secure because only the equipment designed specifically for this protocol, by the same manufacturer, will have the ability to transmit on the network.  We assure you that every precaution has been taken to ensure that our customers will not have their data transfers compromised.
